DANCELAND is a world famous destination! It's history goes back to 1919 when the first dance hall was built. At one time there were three dance halls in Manitou Beach, with dances every day of the week. The present building was built in 1928. Some name bands who have been featured through the years at Danceland are Marty Kenny, Wilf Carter, Bobby Gimby of "the Happy Gang" fame, Don Messer and his Islanders, Gene Dloughy and the Inkspots. Danceland is one of the only such halls still operating in North America. It is open year round, with dances most nights of the week, with week ends and holidays featuring "special" bands and programs. They also serve a regular buffet food service and are a licensed establishment. The building has been extensively renovated and maintained of the past years. It has also been appraised, for replacement value, by a well known Saskatchewan construction contractor.
